NC DEMOCRAT PARTY HOSTING LIBERAL BLOGGER 

RALEIGH—The North Carolina Democrat Party will host via conference call liberal blogger Markos Moulitsas, founder of the extremist website www.dailykos.com, for its September 25 “house parties.”  Moulitsas has been labeled “the leading liberal blogger” in the country by Slate magazine.  (Torie Bosch “WMD? Really?” Slate, 6/22/06)  He is known for his divisive, hate-filled rants that he posts to his blog and was instrumental in opposing Joe Lieberman for the Democrat nomination for Senate in Connecticut in favor of liberal Democrat Ned Lamott.  Moulitsas has also stated his vehement opposition to the Democratic Leadership Council.  He has avowed his own intent to take power in the Democrat party.  “We’re not sitting around waiting for the so-called to give us power in the party . . . We’re taking it for ourselves.”  (Jonathan Darman, “The War’s Left Front,” Newsweek 7/3/06)  Moulitsas is known for his angry, incendiary comments, examples of which are listed below.

Moulitsas Attacked Evangelicals and Called Them “Outcasts”

Moulitsas Echoed the Opinion of MoveOn.org on General Petraeus

“Petraeus has been a good partisan foot soldier for the GOP. Chairman Linda Daves, North Carolina Republican Party made the following statement:

“The North Carolina Democrat Party is trying to remain in lockstep with Democrats across the country by appealing to the extremist, liberal wing of their party.  The angry, hate-mongering rhetoric of liberal blogger, Markos Moulitsas, should get him pushed to the fringes of the political debate.  Instead, fellow liberals laud him as a ‘kingmaker.’  The NC Democrat Party should be rebuking Moulitsas for his comments attacking people of faith and military leaders.  Instead, they are throwing him a party.  In North Carolina, the only kingmakers are the voters.  Hosting fringe liberals known for their extremist rants just shows how out of touch the Democrat Party has become with the average North Carolinian.”
